Isle of Capri Birthday Party

This past weekend we celebrated our little Capri's first birthday with an Isle of Capri themed birthday party.  We decided awhile ago that we wanted to have an Italian party for Capri to take everyone to the place she is named after and it turned out so fun.  I based the whole party around the lemon theme since the island of Capri is famous for their lemons.  We had an italian soda bar where guests could mix flavors of coconut, peach, and strawberry sodas as well as Sanpellegrino in lemon and orange flavors.  For lunch we served garlic breadsticks, italian spinach salad, and a variety of homemade italian pizzas including quattro formaggi, bbq chicken, and spinach artichoke.  Adam was in the kitchen the whole time whipping up all the pizzas and they were so delicious.  After we sang "happy birthday" and Capri dug into her lemon cake we gave everyone lemon coconut cupcakes and homemade gelato while she opened her presents.  We have never fed Capri any desserts or sugar so it was pretty funny to watch her dig into her cake because she loves getting messy and I think she thought the sugar was pretty great too.  I was so grateful that my mom and sisters flew into town this past week to be there for the big celebration because I couldn't have pulled everything off that day without their help.  Between picking up the giant balloons and frosting cupcakes, they were the best help and I loved every minute of having them here with us.  Capri loves her Nana and aunties so much, I'm sure tomorrow is going to be a sad day when she wakes up and realizes they are all gone.  

I love all of these cute little kiddos so much and we were so happy to have so many of our friends celebrate with us.  It was pretty hilarious trying to get a picture of all these kids together and looking at the camera.  This is about the only one where someone isn't crying or trying to escape the scene.  There's never a dull moment:)
