Guest Post: Healthy Snacks for Busy Moms
Today I have a guest post from part of the fabulous duo at PureFit PureFood. Devrie Pettit is a registered Dietitian/Nutritionist with a BS degree from Utah State University and a Masters from Stony Brook University in New York, so this girl knows her stuff. She is a mom to three cute kids and expecting her fourth right now. I love her approach to nutrition that it's not a diet, but rather a lifestyle choice of focusing on whole foods. I have loved following them on Instagram for daily workout motivation and nutrition tips. As a busy mom with a house full of kids, she is sharing a healthy meal idea for your little ones this summer that is quick and easy and something everyone can do. Thanks so much for sharing Devrie!
Is anyone's house as messy as mine with more kids home during the day? Plus, it's hot! I have kids coming in and out all day long. And, there's usually a crowd . . . a hungry crowd. Throw together a Summer Snack Tray to feed the masses! When you pick real food they'll be hungry less [aka less opening and closing doors], just follow these rules:
1 | Pick a Protein [tuna]
2 | Add something green [thawed peas]
3 | Choose a complex carb [sprouted grain bagels]
4 | Include cooled fruit [watermelon]
5 | Make it interesting with a sweet treat [strawberries & chocolate hazelnut spread]
[I also included sweet potato tortilla chips, diced cheese, and diced tomato with sea salt]
So fast, so easy, and it kept them outside!!
