Row Row Row Your Boat First Birthday Party

Row Row Row Your Boat First Birthday Party

I still can’t believe our baby boy is one years old!! That was for sure the fastest year of my life. It’s crazy how the days can feel so long when you are in them sometimes with no sleep and a newborn baby, but the months sure fly by and pretty soon they are hitting all of these milestones and you feel like you’ll be sending your baby off to college in no-time. I have wanted to cherish every moment with our sweet baby Roman and since we did a big party for his other two siblings, I knew we had to celebrate this momentous occasion for him as well. When I planned my other kids one year old parties, I picked a theme based off of their names kind of as a tribute to them and the name they were given so as I was thinking of ideas for Roman - I couldn’t think of anything that seemed fitting for Roman Beckham. However, his nickname of RoRo that all of this cousins call him has really stuck with him and he loves the row row row your boat song and calling himself RoRo so I schemed up a Row Row Row Your Boat party with a nautical theme. I changed the words of the song for his invitations and then based the rest of the party off of those traditional red, white, and blue colors. I had sailor hats for all the guests as a party hat and sailboats around for decor. The dessert table where the cake sat was filled with candy jars of boat rope [red vine licorice], the catch of the day [swedish fish], cupcakes, and sugar cookies in designs of sailboats, anchors, and life savors. I had a large balloon garland in the room that went from shades of white to a dark blue so that it looked like the ocean coming up and then I had different nautical flag banners and life savers hanging around. For lunch we served chicken salad croissant sandwiches with chips and spinach dip, a veggie tray, all of Rome’s favorite fresh berries, and a big green salad. There was a craft table set up for the kids to all paint their own sailboat and then we had a big piñata for everyone to take a wack at [and the adults were actually more into it]. Roman loved getting to taste sugar for the first time and devoured his cake! He really had the best time ever and I felt like he knew the day was all about him because he just kept smiling and clapping and was the happiest little guy. It was so fun to celebrate with friends and family that flew in just for the party, which meant the world to us. We feel so blessed to have this blue-eyed sweet boy in our lives and to get to watch him grow and learn everyday.
