2013 was a year filled with lots of new adventures for us. It's been full of emotional highs [some tears were shed] and lots of growth that has been hard at times, but with some of the lows have come some of the most incredible highs and the greatest joy we've ever known. Here's a little recap to our life in the past twelve months.
| JANUARY |
started off the year with a babymoon in Maui that was so dreamy.
packed up and moved to a new place to make more room for baby and I began putting the design together for the nursery.
| FEBRUARY |
hosted a super bowl party with Santa Monica friends at our new place.
celebrated Adam turning 28 years old.
began taking our childbirth classes at UCLA Santa Monica and had a hospital tour.
had a fun day together for Valentine's and enjoyed lots of date nights before becoming a family of three.
Adam played lots of flag football on the beach in Venice and I was busy finishing up design projects before my maternity leave.
my wonderful California friends hosted a baby shower for me and we hosted a wine and cheese party for the Oscar's at our place.
| MARCH |
i launched my own design business and online shop, Chelsey Elizabeth Design.
we took our maternity pictures in Newport Beach.
i had a girls trip down in Laguna Beach with Ashley, Lexi, and Heather.
all the finishing details went up in Capri's nursery and we packed our hospital bags.
| APRIL |
we celebrated our second wedding anniversary with our favorite meal.
Adam started a new job and ended his year at CP+B.
my mom came into town and my waterbroke on my 26th birthday then our sweet baby girl, Capri Lyla Hale was born on the 17th.
my dad came into town and we went home from the hospital while my parents took care of us. Adam's parents came to visit when my parents left and got to meet Capri.
| MAY |
we ventured out with our new baby girl and made lots of "first" visits to places with her like the beach, the grove, the park, and the dodgers game for memorial day.
i had my very first mothers day.
daily walks quickly became my favorite thing with Capri and she loves her stroller.
| JUNE |
this month was hard as we suffered the loss of our baby niece, Gwyneth who is now our guardian angel.
we celebrated Adam's very first fathers day.
we spent a weekend in Ventura with our Pasadena friends and Capri went swimming for the first time.
the end of the month we flew to Utah for Capri to meet all of her relatives.
| JULY |
Capri received a name and a blessing and had a party in her honor.
we visited with friends in Utah and met our little nephew Isaac who was born just before Capri.
we enjoyed Utah swimming in Nana's pool, eating at Hires Big H, shopping at City Creek, and going to a cousins wedding.
we spent fourth of July weekend staying at Stein Erickson Lodge with the Rice Family going boating at Jordanelle, Oakley Rodeo, Park City Parade, Park City Outlets, dining on Main Street, and swimming at the pool.
we spent a day with Sam and Steph in Newport Beach.
I went on Hikes with Capri in Malibu.
I got into a car accident on the 405 with Capri, but luckily no one was hurt - just my car.
| AUGUST |
Capri and I hiked the Hollywood sign and I introduced her to the famous Diddy Riese ice cream sandwiches.
we enjoyed a movie night at the park with friends.
Sam and Steph came to visit us and we took them around to all of our favorite places.
Capri and I went to Utah to visit family and we enjoyed the Hogle Zoo, a U of U football game, and family parties.
we spent labor day in Redondo Beach as a family.
| SEPTEMBER |
i threw a baby shower for one of my best friends, Jasmine.
we enjoyed lots of beach days with friends and my dream came true of finally becoming a Disneyland season pass holder.
we spent a weekend in Balboa with our friends, the Thorne's.
we had a bonfire on the beach with friends and made tinfoil dinners.
i took Capri to the Los Angeles Zoo for the first time.
we had picnics at the park and played some tennis matches.
| OCTOBER |
Capri and I went to Underwood Farms for the Harvest Festival and shopped at the Camarillo outlets.
we spent lots of days at Disneyland and loved the Halloween decorations. Capri also met all of the princesses for the first time.
we ventured to Chinatown and had the best Chinese dinner then went to Olvero Street to have a taste of Mexico with the best churros around.
Adam and I had a day date at Six Flags.
we had a Halloween party at our place and dressed up as farmers with our little pumpkin.
| NOVEMBER |
we took family pictures down in Orange County.
we spent a weekend in Santa Barbara and I ran my third marathon.
i went with Capri to the Long Beach Aquarium.
Adam took Capri on a daddy daughter trip for two days to Utah and I worked on design projects while they were away.
we enjoyed the tree lighting at The Grove and Capri met Santa for the first time and sat on his lap.
Adam played in a turkey bowl with our ward.
We spent Thanksgiving in Newport Beach with the Hale's playing miniature golf, go-cart racing, bowling, and eating at lots of delicious places. I also ran the Dana Point Turkey Trot 10k.
| DECEMBER |
watched the El Segundo holiday parade, tree lighting, and fireworks on Manhattan Beach Pier. we also experienced Candy Cane lane for the first time.
Adam and I got all dressed up for his work holiday party that was old hollywood.
we saw the happiest place on earth all decked out for the holidays.
we drove to Utah for a white Christmas and celebrated with both our families going to movies, taking pictures, exchanging presents, seeing the lights, ice skating, skiing at Deer Valley, playing games, bowling in ugly christmas sweaters, and eating lots of yummy treats.
we came home just in time for a New Years Eve party with friends.
